Frozentalia ch.1

It was a cold late afternoon when ice cutters arrived at a frozen lake. They began to sing as they began to cut the frozen lake to make ice blocks.

Born of cold and winter air
And mountain rain combining
This icy force both foul and fair
Has a frozen heart worth mining

Workers formed into groups and continued their work. Among them was a fair-skinned boy with short blond hair, fair skin, and blue eyes. He wore a white shirt under a grey warm coat, black pants, and grey boots. His name was Ludwig and had a baby buck named Sven. One group was sawing the frozen lake, while the other group picked blocks of ice with tongs.

So cut through the heart, cold and clear
Strike for love and strike for fear
See the beauty, sharp and sheer
Split the ice apart
And break the frozen heart

Once blocks of ice were picked, they were carried to the sled. Each of the workers carried a block.

Hyup! Ho! Watch your step! Let it go!
Hyup! Ho! Watch your step! Let it go!

Beautiful!
Powerful!
Dangerous!
Cold!

Ludwig tried to pick up the small ice block, but it kept slipping from the tongs. Sven licked Ludwig˙s cheek to cheer him up. Other workers were busy sawing ice and avoiding falling into the cold lake.

Ice has magic, can't be controlled
Stronger than one, stronger than ten
Stronger than a hundred men! Hyup!

While Ludwig was struggling to get the block of ice, other workers continued to saw, cut, and carry blocks of ice to the sled. Once ice blocks were put on a sled, they were tied to the sled by ropes.

After a few failed attempts, Ludwig finally got the ice block and put it on his sled. Sven pulled the sled and Ludwig got on the sled as he tried to keep up with the bigger sled. He encouraged his only friend,˝ Come on, Sven. ˝ He could see Northern lights lit the evening sky.

Far away from the frozen lake stood a castle of a kingdom named Arendelle, ruled by a wise king Romulus and Iberia. Inside one of the bedrooms was a 9-year-old with short dark brown hair and curl, brown eyes. His name was Romano, prince of Arendelle. He wore a white nightgown with long sleeves and slept peacefully. Suddenly a pit-pat of tiny feet was heard as a voice whispered,˝ Ve~ Romano. Psst. Fratello!˝ It was his twin brother Feliciano. He had brown hair and wore a white nightgown with a red ribbon around the neckline. Feliciano climbed onto his brother`s bed and whispered, ˝ Ve~ fratello! Wake up, wake up! ˝ Romano yawned and mumbled, sleepily, ˝ Feli, go back to sleep. It`s too early. ˝ Feliciano sighed and lay on Romano as he said, ˝ I just can’t! The sky’s awake, so I’m awake, so we have to play!˝ Romano said as he turned and showed Feliciano off, ˝ Go play by yourself. ˝ Feliciano fell out of bed and landed on the floor. He crossed his arms with a pout, for he wanted to play with his brother. Suddenly he got an idea and stood up. Feliciano climbed on the bed. He whispered to his twin brother, ˝ Do you want to build a snowman? ˝ Romano woke up with a smile before the twins snuck out of their room. The boys were rushing down the staircase as Feliciano could hardly wait and kept tagging his brother along. As Feli kept urging his brother to hurry up, Romano was trying to shush Feli. It went on like that until they entered the throne room. As soon as the door closed, Feliciano exclaimed in excitement, ˝ Do the magic! Do the magic, please! ˝ Romano moved his hands in a circle as he began to use his magic. It was a gift to create ice, snow, and frost. Feli watched in excitement as tiny snow crystals appeared.  Romano asked Feli, ˝Ready? ˝ Feli nodded since he was too excited to speak. Romano threw the magic ball in the air and it exploded, creating snowflakes that slowly began to fall. Feliciano cheered as he tried to catch a snowflake, ˝ This is amazing! ˝ A giggle escaped his lips when a snowflake landed on his nose. Romano stomped his foot on the floor and ice spread on the floor. later the twins were building a snowman. Feliciano smiled as Romano placed black stones for buttons and two twigs as hands. He hid behind the snowman and said in a funny voice, ˝ Hi. I`m Alfred and I like warm hugs. Feliciano said as he hugged Alfred, ˝ Ti amo, Alfred. ˝ The two princes ice skated with Alfred, then slid down a snowy hill. The next game had Romano creating a snow hill for Feliciano to jump on. ˝ Hang on! ˝ Feliciano giggled as he hopped from one snow hill to the other. ˝ You can`t catch me. ˝ Romano giggled along, but he stopped when he noticed Feliciano was hopping too fast. He called as he tried to keep up, ˝ Wait! Slow down! ˝ Suddenly Romano slipped on the ice and fell on his side with a cry. He saw Feliciano jump and called his name in panic, while accidentally aiming a snow blast at his brother. The blast hit Feliciano on the forehead causing him to blackout and landing on a pile of snow. Romano gasped in horror as he saw Feliciano fall and hurried to check on him. Feliciano was unconscious and a lock of his brown hair turned white. Romano asked as worry increased in his heart, ˝ Feli? ˝ Fearing the worst, Romano hugged his brother and cried, ˝ Mama! Papa! ˝ Tears were running down the older twin`s cheeks as frost he made from his feet spread through the room. Romano whispered to Feliciano, ˝It`s ok, Feliciano. I got you. Hold on, Fratello.  ˝ Suddenly, the door of the throne room bursts open and the rulers of Arendelle ran in. What a sight to meet the king and queen. Romulus said in a stern voice, ˝ Romano, what have you done? This is getting out of hand! ˝ Romano said as his parents came to check on the boys, ˝ It was an accident. I didn`t mean it. Mi dispiache Feli. ˝ Iberia took Feliciano in her arms and gasped as she felt the cold spreading through the child, ˝ He’s ice cold! ˝ Romulus looked at his wife. ˝ I know where we have to go. ˝ He hurried into the library to find a book containing the solution to their situation before its too late. King finally found a large book with the information and a map of the Troll village. Without a moment to lose, the royal family got on their horses and galloped to the troll village. No one saw Romano leave an ice trail behind.

Meanwhile, in the forest, Ludwig and Sven had finished their job and were heading home. During their journey home, they saw the royal family gallop by, leaving an ice trail behind. Curious about the ice trail, Ludwig hopped on Sven`s back and they followed the trail. ˝ Let`s go. Faster Sven! ˝ A few minutes later, Sven and Ludwig arrived at the troll village. they hid behind the nearest rock. The royal family arrived in the village. The king got off the horse and his family followed. Romulus called as he and his family walked into the center of the village, ˝ Please help! My son. ˝ Suddenly the rocks rolled toward the royal family and circled them. Romano stepped closer to his father. The rocks revealed their true form. They were trolls. ˝ It`s the king. ˝, said one of the trolls, and others began to whisper among themselves. The trolls grew silent making way for the oldest of them, their leader. Ludwig couldn`t believe his eyes. Suddenly the rock he was hiding behind was revealed to be a female troll. ˝ Shush, I’m trying to listen. ˝ Her cheek was licked by Sven and she smiled. ˝ Cuties. I’m going to keep you. ˝ Thus Sven and Ludwig were adopted by trolls. The elder troll approached the royal family. He bowed to them. ˝ Your Majesty. ˝ He asked as he took Romano`s right hand, ˝ Born with powers or cursed? ˝ Romulus replied as Iberia knelt with Feliciano in her arms, ˝ Born and they’re getting stronger. ˝ Elder troll checked Feliciano and touched the child`s head. ˝ You are lucky it wasn’t his heart. ˝ he said. ˝ The heart is not so easily changed, but the head won’t be a problem.˝ Romulus put a hand on Romano`s shoulder and said, ˝ Do what you must.˝ Elder troll used his magic to alter Feliciano`s memories of his twin`s magic. ˝ I recommend we remove all magic, even memories of magic to be safe. ˝ He assured the royal family, ˝ But don’t worry, I’ll leave the fun. ˝ With memories altered, they were put back in Feliciano`s head. A smile came to the sleeping prince`s lips and the royal family calmed down. Romano wondered, ˝ But he won’t remember that I have powers? ˝ Romulus said to Romano, ˝ It`s for the best . ˝ Elder troll warned the older prince as he used magic to show the child`s future, ˝ Listen to me Romano, your power will only grow.˝ The images formed into adult Romano using his magic. ˝ There is beauty in it, but also great danger. ˝ Suddenly the image turned red. ˝You must learn to control it. Fear will be your enemy.˝ Romano was horrified when he saw an adult self scream in fear and disappear. He gasped in terror and grasped his father`s leg and buried his face in it. Romulus said to the Elder troll, ˝ No! We can protect him. He can learn to control it. ˝ With a heavy heart, Romulus came up with a way to protect Romano. ˝ Until then, lock the gates; we’ll reduce the staff and limit his contact with people and keep his powers hidden from everyone, including Feliciano. ˝ The gates of the castle were closed, the same went for windows. When Feliciano recovered, he was surprised when his brother`s bed and other items were moved into a new room.  He went to check on his brother and was shocked to see him enter his room. Romano decided it was best for Feli if he isolated himself from everyone.
